Our Purpose

We shape infrastructure that supports stronger and more connected communities. Through collaborative thinking, sustainable low carbon materials and a people first mindset, we build long term solutions that create a better tomorrow.

Our Story

Multipave Infrastructure is a UK‑based highways and infrastructure contractor with roots spanning three generations of the Ralphs family, dating back to the late 1950s. The company’s heritage originates on the Preston Bypass—widely recognised as the UK’s first motorway—where the family played a role in the early resurfacing and drainage works, establishing a lasting foundation of technical expertise in pavement construction.

The modern business was established in 2004 by Managing Director John Ralphs with the launch of Pavertec, a specialist plant hire company. In 2007, this was followed by the creation of Multipave, enabling the business to move into self‑delivery road surfacing operations. The subsequent development of Roadpave further strengthened the group’s capabilities. These businesses have since been unified under the Multipave Infrastructure brand to support scalable growth and operational integration.

Headquartered in the Northwest of England, Multipave Infrastructure has grown to employ over 100 people and now operates nationally. A significant milestone was achieved in 2022 when the company was appointed to National Highways’ £1.3bn Pavement Delivery Framework, marking its entry onto the strategic road network as a Tier 1 contractor.

Today, Multipave Infrastructure combines long‑established technical knowledge with modern plant, proprietary low‑carbon materials and an expanding civils capability. The business continues to invest in people, innovation, and sustainable delivery, positioning itself as a financially resilient and quality‑driven partner to major infrastructure clients.

Award winning low carbon materials, produced in-house

We manufacture our own low carbon materials to reduce embodied carbon at source, and working closely with clients and partners to identify smarter ways to cut emissions across the lifecycle of our projects.

Sustainability

We offer a range of economical, recycled and low carbon pavement materials as an alternative to traditional pavement construction materials. They can be used across the full spectrum of paving applications, including motorways and trunk roads, estate roads and footways and cycleways and are compliant with national and local authority standards and specifications. Their engineered properties can reduce pavement thickness and excavation volumes, resulting in significant cost and programme savings and carbon savings of up to 70%.
